The main aim of the research is to promote and market 13 heritage buildings (that has been gazetted as national treasures) in Malaysia through virtual reality packages by producing creative, informative and interactive virtual reality packages such as 3-dimensional model, video documentary, coffee table books, website, articles and internet resources linked databases.
As how world-recognised buildings such as the Pyramid in Giza, the Taj Mahal in India or the Borobodur Temple in Indonesia being popularised and well-known around the world, this research projects hopes that these heritage buildings will be known by people around the world. This research also intends to create public awareness of the significance of the heritage buildings in Malaysia especially to younger generations and to boost up the economic scale for heritage tourism. This research also hopes to follow similar course, by fulfilling the following objectives:
- To produce the Virtual Reality Packages such as 3D modelling and video documentary on selected heritage buildings, as well as coffee table book and website.
- To study and document the history and aesthetic values of heritage buildings
- To collect and document information about the 13 selected buildings such as measured drawings, still photos, video and to establish contacts with the building’s owner, local authorities and the NGOs.
